Rainbow Bridge - This is Athena's Story (passed on 03/23/09)

Athena and her siblings were found stray and brought to the Ft Worth shelter. They were in horrible shape and needed medical attention asap. Dede, with CCHS stepped up to bring them under her wing.

Over the next few weeks the pups made amazing progress and appeared to be on the way to a full recovery. Athena had nasal discharge which progressively worsened as time went on and turned out to be the dreaded Distemper virus. Despite our best efforts in late March we decide it would be in her best interest to humanely euthanize her after the neurological stage of the disease took over.

Her bother and sister survived it all and have since been adopted! They are doing great in their forever homes and although Athena wasn't as lucky, she will never be forgotten.
