Rainbow Bridge - This is Baxter's Story (passed on 04/15/10)
Baxter was found in horrendous condition on the side of the road. He had been hit by a car and was emaciated. He spent a week in the shelter before he was set to be put to sleep. CCHS stepped up to save him in his last hours.
Baxter turned up HW positive too. He was neutered, treated for the Heartworms, and his leg was tended to. We thought he was on the road to recovery until he began showing signs of distemper. He was rushed to the vet and pumped with fluids and meds.
Within 10 days of his initial "ticks" he began having seizures and progressed to a point that the brain damage was irreversible. On April 15, it was decided that it would be in his best interest to be humanely put to sleep.
Thank you Lori and Brendan for bringing this gentle soul into your home and giving him the best last months of his life.
