Rainbow Bridge - This is Cassie's Story (passed on 04/21/10)
Cassie was owner surrendered to a local shelter. She was HW positive and had no vet history or training. She was out in the EU list due to lack of space and CCHS stepped up to take her into foster care.
She was fully vetted and thriving in her foster home. Six weeks into foster care she started showing signs of distemper. It skipped the mucosal stage and went right to neurological. It was beleived that she caught the virus at the shelter when she was dumped with out any vaccinations.
On April 21st, it was decided that it was no longer humane to keep her alive with the level of brain damage that the virus had taken over in the course of the next 14 days.
Cassie was laid to rest on April 21st. Thank you Brendan and Lori for taking her in and giving her the best two months of her life where she was loved, kept warm and well taken care of.
Cassie will forever hold a memory in the hearts of the CCHS volunteers for her spunk and character.
