About 200 people came for the Grand Reopening to see the facility and visit with the animals. Food, fun and pet adoptions made for a great afternoon. CCHS contracted with the City of Rockwall in July to operate the facility – one of about five in the United States that is privatized.

Animal lovers in Rockwall have been following Rockwall Shelter news for months and now it’s official. As of today the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center is no longer operating as a city-run facility. Wednesday, August 1, is the first day for the shelter’s new management -- the Collin County Humane Society.

The Collin County Humane Society emerged as the top dog in a bid to assume management of the Rockwall animal shelter as the city proceeds with privatization plans to cut costs. The $410,000 contract will put the Collin County nonprofit at the helm of the shelter starting Aug. 1, 2012.

- which is a production of American Dog Rescue and the Arthur E. Benjamin Foundation aired it's first episode
on Saturday, February 11th on Verizon Fios Channel 27 featuring Molly Peterson, and Tressa Broadhead,
President and Vice President of the Collin County Humane Society.
Peterson and Broadhead shared with Benjamin and his co-host Rainy Flynn the news that designs are well underway for a brand new facility in Wylie. Two of their adorable rescues up for adoption, Spike and Wilma, also joined in the fun.
